Biography |
Teen actor, Stephan Bender, launches skyward landing his
first feature film role as CLARK KENT @ 15 in the slated
2006 release of Bryan Singer’s SUPERMAN RETURNS! Stephan,
the 16-year-old newcomer to Hollywood, was excited enough to
have been given the opportunity to audition for any role
right at the front end of his budding career. He was even
more thrilled when he discovered that he was auditioning for
the role of Young Clark Kent. Words eluded him though, the
day he was told that he had booked the role and would be
working on Superman Returns, a film filled to the brim with
enormous talent such as Kevin Spacey, Kate Bosworth, Brandon
Routh, Eva Marie Saint, James Marsden, Sam Huntington and of
course, being directed by X-Men’s famed director, Bryan
Singer.
Stephan was born in the mid-west where he was first
introduced to acting on stage in local theatre and
youth-group productions. It was an acting friend of his
older sister’s that inspired him to pursue acting locally.
“My sister’s best friend was an extremely funny guy who did
a lot of theatre and local work. It was because of him that
I thought acting looked like it could be a lot of fun and
something I’d be good at,” says Stephan. From there, Stephan
signed on with a local agency to take some acting classes
and pressed forward to see where this acting thing would go.
A short-time later, Stephan was given the opportunity to
participate in a talent competition/showcase in Los Angeles,
California. He and his mother headed west to the ‘battle of
the talent’ in which he competed in front of agents and
managers hailing from Los Angeles to New York. During the
event, Stephan met with a manager who signed him and brought
him out to Los Angeles. Even though Stephan hasn’t had time
to have a career yet, he still counts his meeting with Mr.
Singer as his most memorable moment to date. "I got to my
callback a little early and was met there by Bryan. We had a
chance to just talk a little bit while we waited for the
others to arrive. He was really nice to me,” states Stephan
with a big smile on his face.
When Stephan is not taking acting classes, doing homework
for school or preparing for an audition he likes to spend
time with his friends, plays video games, roller blades,
tackles a challenging game of football, beach volleyball or
street hockey with his buddies and the local neighborhood
kids. He sites Friends as one of his favorite all-time
television shows, thinks Joey from Joey is extremely funny,
listens to such rap stars as Eminem and 50 Cent and loves to
catch a good movie starring Sean William Scott, one of his
favorite actors. And when it’s time to bring it down a bit,
he loves to go to dinner with his parents and siblings to
Surf’N’Turf for a nice out-on-the-town type of evening. |
