Biography |
The face of Calvin Klein fragrance Truth, the exclusive
model representing Hugo Boss, and the man of Yves Saint
Laurent alongside Christy Turnington, Shaun DeWet has become
one of the hottest and the most sought after stars in the
industry.
It's been a long way for Shaun to rise to the top since the
age of 17, when he was first discovered in Cape Town, South
Africa. Before he became the cover boy of Calvin Klein,
Shaun DeWet had appeared in many other campaigns, including
Fila, Lacoste, Bjorn Borg and Tommy Jeans. Now a popular on
the runways in the world's fashion capitals and one of the
most desirable flesh in the business, Shaun DeWet is
constantly working for such high profile designers as Calvin
Klein, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Hugo Boss, and numerous
others.
There was this anti-male modeling article in New York Times
titled "Want to Be a Male Model? Wear a Real Face" written
by Ginia Bellafante. Here is what she had to say about Shaun
DeWet's image in Truth: "The man in the ad looks as if he
might think a 401(k) is something swallowed late at night on
a dance floor with a margarita. His nose is long and
straight, his lips are pneumatic and his chest is so
glistening and unmarred it calls to mind a hockey rink that
has just been smoothed over by a Zamboni."
The intention of her writing is apparently attacking and
trying to make a mockery of male models, but the description
is almost precise and undeniably admits Shaun's powerful
image and his attraction to the public.
Besides the mass exposure from Calvin Klein, Hugo Boss and
YSL, Shaun DeWet was also featured in Hush Puppies and Holt
Renfrew, and can be seen on the covers and the inside
spreads of some the most influential male fashion magazines,
including Arena Homme Plus, Details and L'uomo. |

Favorite thing about Modeling:There's no other job where I
can be on my own at this age and have independence and fun
at the same time. And it's a good life experience as well
getting to interact with other people.
