Biography |
Sean Kanan (stage name) (born November 2, 1966 in Cleveland,
Ohio) is an American actor.
He started on soap operas playing the role of Alan "A.J."
Quartermaine Jr. on the ABC soap General Hospital in January
1993. In June 1997, he left the soap to pursue other
opportunities.
In August 1999, he was offered the role of Jude Cavanaugh on
NBC's Sunset Beach until the show was cancelled on New
Year's Eve of that year.
He joined the cast as Deacon Sharpe on The Bold and the
Beautiful from November 2000 until his final appearance in
February 2005.
Sean is perhaps best known for his portrayal of "Karate's
bad boy" and "tournament terror", Mike Barnes, in The Karate
Kid, Part III. He was lauded by critics for the severe
beatings he administered to Ralph Macchio's character.

Sean also currently appears as a judge on the "MTV's Little
Talent Show". He has one daughter, Simone Andrea, from a
relationship with former The Bold and the Beautiful co-star
Gladys Jimenez (ex-Carmen).
Sean lives in Italy where he is currently a contestant on
the TV show Ballando con le stelle, the Italian version of
Dancing with the Stars.
He attended Mercersburg Academy in Pennsylvania before
attending Boston University and UCLA. |

Has a daughter, Simone Andrea Kanan (b. late 2001), with
former co-star on The Bold and the Beautiful (1987), Gladys
Jimenez. Simone lives with her mother, but Sean is very much
a part of her life.
During Christmas 1999, he accompanied Christie Brinkley and
Al Franken as guests of Secretary of Defense William Cohen,
to Bosnia and Kosovo where they entertained U.S. troops.
Partner: Jessica Hammerschlag, with whom he has a movie
production company.
In 1995, six years after making The Karate Kid, Part III
(1989) (in which he performed most of his own stuntwork), he
made a public appearance at the Eagle Rock Plaza in Southern
California. The first person in Kanan's autograph line asked
him to sign "Mike Barnes," following Sean's own name. Kanan
happily obliged; according to himself, it was the first time
he had ever been asked for an "autograph" from his KK3
character.
Attended Boston University where he majored in Political
Science.
Has a dog named MAX.
