Biography |
George Ryan Ross is the lead guitarist, back-up vocalist and
occasional pianist for the band Panic! at the Disco. He is
notably the original lyricist for songs on band's debut
album A Fever You Can't Sweat Out.
George Ryan Ross was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada
where he attended High School. He was raised by an alcoholic
father.
Two songs on Panic! at the Disco's debut album A Fever You
Can't Sweat Out were written about his personal experience
with his father, Camisado and Nails For Breakfast, Tacks for
Snacks.
As a child, he lived in the same neighborhood as bandmate
Spencer Smith and the two have been good friends since age
5.
When Ryan was twelve, he asked his parents for a guitar for
Christmas of 1998, thus starting his first collaborations
with Spencer who was given a drum set. In the first few
years, Ryan and Spencer mostly covered Blink-182 songs with
Ryan on vocals. Their band was called Pet Salamander at that
time.
Later on, Spencer recruited school friend Brent Wilson on
bass, and they played together in a band called The Summer
League. Brendon Urie joined the band, the others heard him
singing back-up vocals and unanimously decided that he would
be the lead singer.
After the band gained the attention of Pete Wentz of Fall
Out Boy and became a signed band, he focused his efforts
towards being the bands main lyricist and main guitar
player. In addition, he does backup vocals during concerts. |
