Biography |
Matt White, born in Englewood, New Jersey, is an American
musician.
White has always been wild and loud even before he was born.
His mother said the only time he was quiet was the nine
months his mother was pregnant with him and even then she
knew he would be a little rambunctious, "I guess, because I
was so excited to come out", he jokes.
White spent his entire childhood across the river running
through the streets of New York City. When he was growing up
at home, he would sleep until noon every day and he
remembers his mother yelling at him, “that only musicians
sleep all day”. So, since he loved to sleep, he decided then
and there that he would be a musician.
White learned how to play the piano when he was a wee child,
but was forced to learn to play the guitar when he went away
to college at the University of Wisconsin because he
couldn't fit a piano into his dorm room.
"I've since then traveled around this great country playing
shows for anyone who would listen. I have found playing live
for people to be my true love in life. There is something
explosive that happens on stage that can't be put on an
album", Matt shares.
Speaking of albums, the songs on White's first album, which
is called 'Do You Believe', are about his life and more
specifically his experiences with love. They are nostalgic
clips and memories of things that he, his friends and his
family have experienced over the years. The songs are also
about discovery.
Matt says, "I have found that adults expect us kids to know
what we want to do with our lives, like we have everything
planned out and should stay on this straight line, but I
find that living in the moment and following your heart is
the only path to follow." |
