Biography |
John Edmund Driscoll is an American television and soap
opera actor best known for his present role as Henry Cooper
"Coop" Bradshaw on Guiding Light. He also had a starring
role on the short-lived NBC series, The Book of Daniel
(2006) and recurring roles on Dawson's Creek (2001 - 2002)
and Young Americans (2000). In 2004, he appeared on an
episode of One Tree Hill.
Driscoll grew up in a military family that valued athletics.
After he graduated from high school, he was a professional
runway and catalog model for Armani and Versace, among
others. Modelling led to acting in commercials and musical
theatre.
Driscoll went to George Mason University where he majored in
theatre and was a brother in the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. His
first role was as Brandon on Young Americans. |

His favorite movie is Henry V (1989).
His favorite TV show is "Iron Chef America: Battle of the
Masters" (2004) (mini), but says he can't cook to save his
life.
His favorite candy is Milk Duds.
He had originally wanted to play lacrosse for a university,
but then thought there was more longevity in the arts, so he
decided to study opera and entered George Mason University
on an opera scholarship after auditioning with pieces from
"The Phantom of the Opera." He eventually majored in
theater, with a minor in communications, and ended up
playing lacrosse and racquetball there. He took a break from
school to join the cast of "The Guiding Light" (1952).
Has two siblings: an older brother and an older sister.
Was working as a waiter at the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company in
Times Square when he was cast as "Coop" in "The Guiding
Light" (1952).
His father was a lieutenant colonel in the army, and his
mother worked for an airline.
After a mercury-filled blood pressure device cracked on the
set of "Guiding Light," along with several cast members he
was ordered into quarantine while New York City's health
department examined them. They were all given a clean bill
of health. |
