Biography
James Hyde (born October 9, 1962) is an American actor and former male fashion model, who plays the role of Sam Bennett on the television soap opera Passions. Hyde is a native of Lancaster, Ohio where is was born and raised.

Hyde was discovered in Hawaii and he soon began modeling. Modeling has taken Hyde all over the globe, to places such as Japan, Amsterdam and London, and also introduced him to his wife, Sue-Ling Garcia, whom he married in 1994. They have a son, James Moses.

He has roles in the films "The Blackout" (not yet released state-side) and "Let's Talk About Sex".

"Passions" is far from Hyde's first foray into daytime television. In 1996, he won an open casting call competition for Sunset Beach, and appeared in the promos for the show. In 1997, he was picked up for a recurring role in "Another World" as Neil Johansson, then went on to a short stint on "As the World Turns" as Liam in 1999.

Discovered by NBC after winning an audition at an open casting call competition for "Sunset Beach", and was featured in the soap opera's promos.

Is an avid sportsman playing basketball, baseball and golf. Also enjoys travelling home to Ohio to visit his family or to his wife's native Puerto Rico.
