Biography |
Eric Mabius (born Eric Harry Timothy Mabius on April 22,
1971) is an American actor.
Mabius was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania of Irish and
Polish descent. After attending Amherst Regional High
School, in Amherst, Massachusetts, where he was voted "Most
Dramatic Boy" as a senior, he enrolled in Sarah Lawrence
College in Bronxville, New York, where he pursued studies in
film. He began his career in 1995 with Welcome to the
Dollhouse, an art-house movie which starred Heather
Matarazzo, followed by I Shot Andy Warhol, with Lili Taylor,
in 1996.
Mabius was involved with The Crow franchise on more than one
occasion: he auditioned for a role as one of Top Dollar's
henchmen in the 1993 original Crow and played Alex Corvis in
The Crow: Salvation, the third installment, opposite Kirsten
Dunst. His biggest film role to date is as a cop called
'Matt Addison' in Resident Evil. In television, Mabius has
appeared on Chicago Hope, Millennium, Popular, The O.C., and
the short-lived 2005 series Eyes. He was a regular cast
member of The L Word in its first season and returned for
one episode in each of the second and third.
As of 2006, he appears in the ABC-TV series, Ugly Betty, as
Daniel Meade, the fashion magazine editor boss and friend of
star America Ferrera. Off the success of Ugly Betty, he was
named one of the sexiest men alive by People Magazine.
Mabius and his wife Ivy were married in January 2006, and
have a son, Maxfield Elliot. Mabius and Ivy revealed to the
E! channel at the SAG Awards 2007 that they first met in
high school during a sex education class. |

Eric loves mustard and puts it on everything.
Auditioned for the role of FunBoy in The Crow (1994). The
part went to Michael Massee, who fired the gun that
accidentally killed Brandon Lee. Mabius went on to star in
the lead of The Crow: Salvation (2000).
Has a brother named Craig.
Auditioned for Scream 2 (1997).
When not performing, he likes to do woodwork and carpentry
to unwind.
Is engaged to interior designer Ivy Sherman.
He and his wife, Ivy Sherman, went to high school together.
Son with Ivy Sherman, Maxwell Elliot, born in June 2006.
