Biography |
Derek Hough (born May 15, 1985) is an American dancer and
choreographer. A former world champion in Latin-American
Dance, he appeared on Season 5 of the ABC television series,
Dancing with the Stars.
Derek was born in 1985 in Salt Lake City, Utah. In 1998,
along with his sister, he moved to London to further their
dance training.
He attended and subsequently taught at the Italia Conti
Academy of Theatre Arts. On this foundation, he built a
career, which has included professional competition,
television work, and roles in the West End Theatre.
Hough has danced at professional level with Polish dancer
Aneta Piotrowska, who has competed on Dancing with the Stars
Poland.
Hough is a former World under-21 Latin American Dance
Champion. He has won the LA Outstanding Dancer of the Year
and the New York Dance Alliance Outstanding Dance awards. |

Other Information |
Starred in the musical adaptation of Footloose (1984) as
"Ren McCormack". This was his first professional role.
Moved to London at age 12 in 1998 and has lived there since.
He lives in the town of Dulwich.
At age 18 he debuted in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and was in
the show for the final six months at the London Palladium.
